Brand History: A Look into the Sole

You see them everywhere...in magazines, on the red carpet, sitting front row at the NBA finals. YES! I'm talking about the infamous Red Soles! These beauties seem have taken the fashion scene by storm over the last few years! That's right! Celebrities, fashionistas, and trend setters around the world have gone "GOO GOO 4 Loubou"...Louboutin that is!
What is it about these shoes that has everyone in awe? Is it the extraordinarily high "skyscraper" heel? Or maybe it has something to do with that exquisite red-laquered sole? Actually, it seems that both of these attributes are what sets Louboutin apart from the others. Strutting down the street in a pair of the precious footwear apparently give women a boost in confidence and sexiness. Christian, the man behind the name, says "he crafts the heels to be a "perfect blend of beauty and sex appeal", high enough that they "slow women down and give them a sexier gait". If that isn't enough to persuade ladies to buy these shoes, then I don't know what is. These shoes have been spotted on countless numbers of high profile individuals. Such names include: Angelina Jolie, Beyonce Knowles, Rihanna, Madonna, Victoria Beckham, Gwyneth Paltrow, and many, many more.
So, where did Christian Louboutin come up with this genius idea for the design of his shoes? Well, it all started back in his childhood. Christian grew up in Paris, and when he was a young boy, he enjoyed sneaking off to nightclubs to watch the showgirls. He was fascinated by them and this was his inspiration to becoming a shoe designer. In 1991, he launched his line of high end women's shoes in Paris. And the red sole? That was an accident. One day, he felt that his shoes were lacking energy and innovation. He noticed a young lady polishing her nails with red polish and VOILA...the red sole was born!
